"Backdoor" Definition
|
Making a hand other than the one intended. Having J/10 of Clubs with a flop of A of Clubs, 5 of Clubs. 6 of Spades. The turn and river are K & Q of Hearts. You made a straight instead of the intended (and more likely) flush.
For example: "I bet out with top pair on the flop, and caught a fourth card to a flush on the turn. I bet out again and my opponent raised. I called. Luckily, I completed a backdoor flush on the river. My opponent made two pair on the flop, so my top pair wouldn't have been good."
