"Big Blind" Definition
|
A designated amount that is placed by the player sitting in the second position, clockwise from the dealer, before any cards are dealt.
In order to prevent players from gaining extra hands without the risk of contributing to the pot, most cardrooms require players who are joining a table to pay the amount of the big blind regardless of whether they are joining the game in the actual big blind position or in another seat.
for example: "I decided to wait for the big blind before joining the table, since I'd have to pay it anyway."
