"Blue Chip" Definition
|
A token representing a significant amount of money or points; a chip of a specific, high denomination. The term black chip is used more frequently. Blue chips are used as the highest denomination in games using white, red, and blue chips. While no longer frequently used in poker, the term is now commonplace in finance and investments, where it describes investments of stable and high value.
For example: "I lost a stack of blue chips when my opponent completed a flush on the river."
